About Us

Hi, my name is Mindy Riley and I'm the Owner and Founder of Olive Tree. It's so nice to meet you! 

Over a decade ago, my husband David and I walked into a shop not too different from Olive Tree in a city we were visiting. Immediately, after spending just a few moments in the store, I was inspired. I looked at David and told him that THIS is what I wanted to do. Of course he thought I was a little crazy at first, but that night we started researching and he ended up writing an incredible business plan. With help from our families and David's endless support of my dreams, I created Olive Tree.

Growing up, I was always a foodie, and ALWAYS wanted to be cooking or baking in the kitchen. On Saturday mornings, I would watch Julia Child and other cooking shows instead of cartoons. The timing was never right for me to break into the food industry, so I spent a good portion of my adult life in Real Estate. 

I feel incredibly blessed to have made it through several rough patches over the years, especially (most recently) the seemingly never-ending pandemic that shut down the world. 

We truly have the greatest customers who show us unwavering loyalty – and for each and every one of you, I am grateful beyond words. 

While our business has evolved time and time again over the years, you have stuck with us. And to that, all I can say is thank you. And of course, I would be remiss to leave out all that David has done for me and for our business.

Having a store like Olive Tree allows me to meet so many peoples' needs, especially now that more and more people are cooking and eating at home regularly.

Olive Tree is my love letter to Kansas City, from a girl who was born and raised here. I hope you enjoy everything we have to offer, and I thank you again for supporting our small, local business.
