Stuffed Baked Apples

We found the perfect dessert recipe for a smaller holiday gathering: Stuffed Baked Apples...prepared in only 10 minutes!  Super simple and stuffed with flavor. Plus we added a little Maple Balsamic Vinegar to make it a true fall delicacy. This is absolutely lick-the-bowl-clean delicious with a little vanilla bean ice cream on the side.

Ingredients

3 apples (we like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1 tbsp Olive Tree Maple Balsamic Vinegar
½ cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ cup melted butter
3 tbsp brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Cut the apples in half and core, then arrange them into an oven-proof dish.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the chopped walnuts, cinnamon, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar and melted butter.
  3. Divide the filling and stuff the apples evenly between each half.
  4. Pour about ¾ cup water in the bottom of pan. Bake at 375 degrees covered for 25 minutes then uncovered for 20-30 or until apples are tender, but still holding their shape.

Serve with vanilla bean ice cream either warm or cold with the caramel sauce left in the dish after baking.
