We are so fortunate to meet the most wonderful humans. Linda and Victor Perkins  are the children of Mimi Perkins who brought us Saigon 39. Here is a little bit about them:

"Hello,  we are Linda and Victor Perkins.  Our amazing mother Mimi is the founder of our family restaurant,  Saigon 39, that was open for nearly 20 years on KCMO's Restaurant Row on 39th Street.   Mama Mimi was a self taught cook that combined her love of food from the different regions of Vietnam and the influences of her own Vietnamese/French heritage to create recipes all her own.  With her delicious recipes, entrepreneurial spirit, and gift for gab... she opened Saigon 39 in 1998 that fed many families for years while she entertained them with her colorful personality.

Sadly,  our beautiful mother passed away in 2017. We decided that the best way to honor our mother's legacy is through sharing her delicious recipes.  Although we have continued to offer dishes from the Saigon 39 menu in our catering business,  we would love to also share all the recipes we enjoyed at home with our families.  We want to teach everyone that Vietnamese food is unique to each family that prepares them and that it is ok to take recipes and make them "your own"!

Our mother Mimi encouraged us to watch her cook (oftentimes with no recipe to follow) so that we understood the balance of flavors when we recreate her dishes or create one all our own.    We would like to pass along this gift from our mother to anyone that is interested!"
To honor Mama Mimi's legacy, Linda and Victor are going to do a pop-up dinner at Olive Tree. On the menu for two:
  • Goi Cuon (Fresh Vietnamese Spring/Summer Rolls) with Saigon 39 Peanut Sauce and Nuoc Cham (Vietnamese Vinaigrette)
  • Goi Xoai (Mango Cabbage Salad)
  • Vietnamese Baked Chicken Thighs
  • Mimi's Famous Flan
